Membership options
Different paths.A shared passion. The constitution sets out four membership categories. Professional and Associate membership are the main categories to discuss with the team; Honorary memberships are conferred by the Committee.
For industry professionals
Professional member For people working in wine, beverages, hospitality, wine tourism, education, marketing or sales, subject to the Committee’s assessment.
One vote per member, including by proxy.
Ask about Professional membership For supporters & enthusiasts
Associate member For people with a sincere interest in supporting the association and its purpose. Associate members can offer their help with events.
Associate members do not have voting rights.
Ask about Associate membership Honorary member Granted by the Committee for one year to people who support the association’s purposes. This category has no voting rights.
Honorary Life member Conferred on existing members in recognition of service to the wine community and association. Includes one vote per member, including by proxy.
Before you apply The constitution states that applicants should have at least one year of employment in the sommelier or hospitality industry. If you are an enthusiast or new to the industry, ask the team how this requirement applies to your situation and membership category.
Admission is at the Membership Committee’s discretion. Current membership fees are available by enquiry.

How to join

01 Ask & apply Introduce yourself, confirm eligibility and fees, then complete the application form and provide any information requested.
02 Committee review The Membership Committee considers the application and advises you of its decision.
03 Membership confirmed Following admission and payment of the membership fees, you receive an official confirmation email.
